Synopsis and Plot Summary
The story takes place in an old Western-style house in Shanghai's French Concession, spanning three generations of young people, each striving to pursue their dreams and find love along the way.
In the early 20th century, the Lin family originally lived in the house, but by the early 1930s, they had fallen into decline. The house was bought by a new owner, who transformed it into a maternity hospital where numerous stories unfolded. In the early 1950s, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, the house was repurposed into a factory workshop, where workers and technicians came and went. By the 1990s, the house became a mixed-use building, where new stories of love and ambition continued to unfold as people from different walks of life crossed paths.
