Synopsis and Plot Summary
Set during the Tang Dynasty, Brocade Odyssey tells the tale of Ji Yingying, a spirited young woman from Shu. From her family's renowned Shu Red Silk dyehouse, she rises to become a master craftswoman.
After tragedy strikes in her life—her father’s unjust death and the family’s downfall due to a brocade scandal, Ji Yingying's journey to restore her family’s legacy is fraught with challenges, including clashes with Zhao Xiuyuan, a former admirer turned rival. She also reunites with Yang Jinglan, an illegitimate son of a brocade master, who helps her uncover long-buried truths. As Ji Yingying’s innovative dyeing techniques gain fame, she faces threats from Nanzhao’s king, Sheng Fengze, who covets Shu’s brocade secrets. Together with Yang Jinglan, she protects her craft and leaves behind a legacy of artistry and courage.
