Synopsis and Plot Summary
At the end of the year 1938, different powers are caught in a cruel battle of wits and tactics in the puppet state of Manchukuo.
The eve before the Pacific War in 1939, the Communist party activates sleeper agent Jin Haodong operating under the codename “Gu Ying (Lonely Eagle)" who has been planted in the Kwantung Army Intelligence Agency for years. An explosion in the Kwantung special army raises the suspicion that a spy is leaking secret information.
The Kwantung army MI6 chief sends his foster son, Gu Yingze (Sean Sun), to take emergency countermeasures. He pretends to focus on investigating the explosion, but in reality, he has come to hasten the Xi Yan (Sunset) plan. Gu Yingze forms a brotherhood with Jin Haodong on the surface, yet they are destined to be enemies with Gu Yingze's sly and deceptive character becoming Jin Haodong's biggest hindrance. In the process, Jin Haodong’s former lover, Su Jiaman (Zheng Shuang) “returns to life.” The two meet each other but sadly, they now fight for opposing camps.
