After losing her mother at a young age, Dou Zhao grows up hardened by family upheavals and a destiny riddled with challenges. Disillusioned by love and familial ties, she fights her scheming stepmother to protect her inheritance and retreats to a secluded rural estate, seeking solace in learning and self-reliance.

One stormy night, Dou Zhao encounters Song Mo, a nobleman disguised as a merchant, seeking refuge at her estate. Using her intelligence, she helps him protect the orphaned descendants of a loyal general. This encounter entwines their fates. Song Mo, hailing from an influential official family, is entangled in the mysteries of his family's downfall. Meanwhile, Dou Zhao becomes the target of slander orchestrated by her stepmother, spreading rumors about a forced marriage.

To escape their individual predicaments, Dou Zhao and Song Mo form a marriage alliance, vowing to face the storm together. Initially wary of one another, they gradually grow closer, overcoming challenges side by side and becoming confidants.
