Synopsis and Plot Summary
The story revolves around three generations of the Meng family, primarily focusing on the matriarch Qiao Haiyun, her three daughters Meng Mingwei, Meng Wanqing, and Meng Yi'an, along with their respective daughters. They encounter a series of challenges related to family, marriage, and love, ultimately weaving a heartwarming tale of mutual support and individual growth.
The resolute matriarch Qiao Haiyun (Song Chunli) enforces a strict rule that everyone must return home for Chinese New Year. However, the tradition is unexpectedly broken by the honest third-generation Li Yijin (Ma Sichun), who opts to celebrate with her boyfriend's family instead, sparking family conflicts. Qiao Haiyun's three daughters each face their own challenges: the eldest, Meng Mingwei (Xu Fan), not her biological child, struggles with low self-esteem. Tensions run high between her and Li Yijin.
Meng Wanqing (Liang Jing), the second eldest, and her top student daughter, Tao Shuna (Sun Qian), have a seemingly perfect mother-daughter relationship until they accidentally uncover each other's secrets, leading to a renewed understanding of one another. Meanwhile, Meng Yi'an (Li Xiaoran), the youngest, mirrors Qiao Haiyun's strength and independence but faces challenges balancing career and family, ultimately coming to understand her mother's struggles. Despite their differences, the three generations of Meng women form a supportive and interconnected bond, resembling an archipelago that, while distant, coexists and thrives together.
