Synopsis and Plot Summary

A story about the early image of Chinese communists spans 30 years from the calls to save the nation in 1919 to the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.

After the May 4th Movement, Li Dazhao (Zhang Hongrui), Chen Duxiu (Li Naiwen) and others put forward the idea of saving China with Marxism. The National Congress of the Communist Party of China was then held aboard a cruise ship in Nanhu. Thirteen representatives including Mao Zedong (Hou Jingjian) came together with the common goal of transforming the country. After the meeting, they go their separate ways, spreading seeds across the vast land of China.

Subsequently, Zhou Enlai (Xu Min), Cai Hesen (Zhang Su), Xiang Jingyu (Zhan Jingyi), Qu Qiubai (He Jianze), etc. successively become the backbone of the party's leadership. The early Chinese Communists, mainly represented by Mao Zedong, continue adhering to their initial aspirations while fighting bloody battles one after the other. Finally, on October 1, 1949, they arrive at Tiananmen in Beijing to hold the founding ceremony of New China.
