Synopsis and Plot Summary
It tells the story of the provincial decision to parachute the young Shang Duo into the position of acting mayor in order to solve the problem of the tight fresh water supply in Dongzhou City.
Dongzhou City must first solve the problem of water pollution to have fresh water. The people's expectations, resistance from interest groups, disdain from colleagues, and the public's tendency to wait and see have made every step for Shang Duo (Jia Yiping) very difficult.
Shang Duo enters into a fierce struggle with Zhen Jie (Gao Jin), the son of the former vice governor and the current executive vice mayor of the bureau. In order to provide people with clean water, he and his wife Lu Yi (Xu Yun) have suffered unimaginable pains. Yet it is also through their actions that they've earned the support of youths like Shi Yao (Wang Shimeng), the daughter of the secretary of the municipal party committee, and TV reporter Zhu Xiaoou (Liang Yuan) who also aspire to make the world a better place.
