Synopsis and Plot Summary
A dispute pushes Guandongmen, a hidden sect with a 100-year history, to the brink of destruction. While on the run, martial arts expert Li Xiaolu is forced to become a "doctor."
The shrewd sixth ancestor Li Shizhen (Liu Hua) and the sect's first disciple Li Xiaolu (Jia Bing) have fled all the way to Juxian Street in Xiaoyao Town. By chance, they help innkeeper Xu Erniang (Song Ning) who has been living with her daughter resolve a crisis, so she takes the opportunity to collaborate with them. They turn the inn into a martial arts hall but fail at that. The martial arts hall then transforms into a medical center.
Under the "wise" guidance of Li Shizhen and Li Xiaolu, what was supposed to be a smooth opening ceremony turns into a disaster. Guandongmen becomes public enemy number one. In trying to run a medical center, the people of Guandongmen make friends with individuals from all walks of life. With half-baked methods, they treat each eccentric patient one at a time to stage the biggest farce in the martial arts world. Amidst the chaos, a shocking secret gradually comes to the surface.
