Synopsis and Plot Summary
Set in 1941 Shanghai, the story follows famous actress Yu Jin who is secretly collecting intelligence for the Allied powers while starring in a stage play. She accidentally discovers Japan's plan to attack Pearl Harbor.
Actress Yu Jin (Gong Li) who is located in Hong Kong receives an invitation to return to her hometown of Shanghai to star in a stage play directed by her old flame Tan Na (Mark Chao). It draws the attention of various parties keeping close track of her movements to find out the true purpose of her trip. The fate of one woman becomes closely guided by the times, her enemies impossible from fiction and real life to set apart. She ultimately ushers in a choice that will change the world.
