Synopsis and Plot Summary
Set against the backdrop of the Spring Festival travel season (Chunyun) is a story about a wealthy yet misguided businessman and a dairy farmer looking to collect a debt he's owed. The two unlikely companions cross paths during their trip to Changsha.
Li Chenggong (Xu Zheng), the owner of a successful toy company, is going back to his hometown of Changsha to celebrate Chinese New Year with his family. At the same time, he is being pressured by his mistress Manni (Li Man) to divorce his wife (Zuo Xiaoqing). Along the way, he encounters Niu Geng (Wang Baoqiang), a man who milks cows for a living and they've been riddled with bad luck ever since. The usually composed Li Chenggong turns into a complete mess yet Niu Geng remains happy and optimistic. The two band together and boldly attempt every mode of transportation available such as planes, trains, buses, ferries, trucks, and even tractors just to make it home.
Fun Facts
- After "Lost on Journey," Xu Zheng and Wang Baoqiang worked together again in the 2012 film "Lost in Thailand" which has gone on to become a blockbuster franchise.
- The main protagonists names Chenggong means success while Niu Geng's "Niu" means cow in English.
