Synopsis and Plot Summary
It tells the story of a woman named Tian Sufei. Through a period more than thirty years, she does her best to manage her affairs in love.
Towards the late 1940's, Tian Sufei (Zhao Wei) is girl who grew up in a small Jiangnan town. She runs away from home on a mere impulse and embarks on the road of a revolution. Although she has no experience performing, the beautiful Tian Sufei becomes part of the art troupe. She wins over the soldiers and her teacher Duhan (Sun Haiyang) through her earnest enthusiasm. However, she has no intention to become the teacher's wife as she has fallen for Ouyang Yu (Liu Ye), an officer with an aristocratic temperament.
After some setbacks, Sufei is finally married to the man that she loves, but in spite of their union, their differences in background creates a natural gap between them. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Ouyang Yu's repeated betrayals come as a shock to Sufei. Relying on her inherent tenacity and persistence, she tells the epic of an ordinary woman.
