Synopsis and Plot Summary

A story that follows Xu Fengnian, an arrogant yet gifted young noble whose father harbors high hopes for him. After several hardships, he grows in strength and becomes a protector of the nation.

Xu Fengnian (Zhang Ruoyun) treads an unknown path in the world of jianghu. Although the road is long and laden with ruthless killing, he perseveres in elevating his martial arts skills. Xu Fengnian is motivated by his mother's vengeance and forms friendships with individuals from different walks of lives.

When Beimang began its attack against the Central Plains, Xu Fengnian returns from his travels to lead the iron cavalry in its defence. Infighting within the imperial court results in the deaths of 300,000 soldiers, yet Xu Fengnian fights to regain the lost ground to protect the common people.

Fun Facts

Filming began on January 21, 2020 without revealing the cast. At the time, there were rumors that the drama will star Zhang Ruoyun and Yang Chaoyue.
With the spread of the coronavirus epidemic in China, filming was temporarily halted beginning January 2020 before it was resumed.
Filming lasted five months from July 1, 2020 to November 28, 2020.
Filming took place in Xiangshan Global Studios.
It features a large ensemble cast with Hu Jun, Vengo Gao Weiguang, Crystal Zhang Tianai and many others making special appearances.
It reunites Joy of Life star Zhang Ruoyun and writer Wang Juan along with many other cast members. Han Haolin who played young Fan Xian in Joy of Life also stars.
