Synopsis and Plot Summary
It tells the heroic deeds of the Chinese volunteers who sacrificed their flesh and bloo during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
During the Korean war, a little-known even in history took place as the People's Volunteer Army joined in the fight on the frontlines. Bridges that were repaired, blown up yet continue to stand tall are a miracle of war. A strong brotherhood is forged between Zhang Fei and Guan Lei of the antiaircraft squad and feelings emerge between infantry squad leader Liu Hao and operator Xin Qin.
Fun Facts
- It is a film to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) army entering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea.
- Filming took place in Dandong city, Liaoning province.
- The scene where Deng Chao and Li Jiuxiao 'fought' in dialect was improvized by Deng Chao as it wasn't in the script.
- Zhang Yi felt dizzy due to lack of oxygen after screaming during a scene.
- To better integrate into the role, Wu Jing underwent special training with cast mates like Li Jiuxiao and Wei Chen
- Deng Chao makes a special appearance.
- Deng Chao was filming The Road Back Home for My People, My Homeland when The Sacrifice was filming. He was in a hurry due to scheduling conflicts and had to lose the weight he gained quickly for The Sacrifice.
