Synopsis and Plot Summary
Secret service organizations stationed in Suzhou City on the eve of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War in 1945 attempt to make a final struggle before their defeat as they implement the arrest of an important underground CCP member.
In Julyl 1945, Liu Ying of the New Fourth Army assumes the alias Lin Hong (Dong Weijia) as she infiltrates a trading company to secretly gather military supplies for the troops. Meanwhile, both the Japanese secret service and the Wang puppet regime have their eyes on business owner Cha Fuding. Having acted as an informant for the Kuomintang for many years, his identity has aroused suspicion due to the many secrets that he holds.
Lin Hong is arrested after her identity is exposed. Captured along with her is small-time hoodlum Yu Erduo (Yang Shuo) who bears a striking resemblance to Cha Fuding. At this time, Kuomintang military commaneder Zhou Jiu (Liu Zhihan) has arrived in Suzhou under orders from the higher ups to intercept Lin Hong and the fake Cha Fuding at all costs and take them back to Chongqing. On the journey westward, several forces fight to exact their goals.
