Synopsis and Plot Summary
It tells the story of a young generation represented by Xu Dongyang and Li Wenjia as they leave home to pursue their dreams in Shanghai.
Xu Dongyang (Guo Jingfei) and Li Wenjia (Wang Luodan) are university classmates who came to Shanghai after graduation. Upon his arrival, Dongyang suffered from repeated setbacks, yet he managed to gain acknowledge from his boss due to his integrity and honesty earning him a promotion from a low-level employee to a supervisor. Meanwhile, Wenjia is determined to break away from a life living under someone else's charity. When it comes to the workplace, the tougher the problem, the braver she becomes.
Renting a place together, Dongyang and Li Wenjia eventually warm up to each other. Wenjia falling ill further affirms their feelings and they decide to get married. However, the new chapter in their lives brings on a new set of challenges as they try to build a family together. Dongyang is framed up at work and forced to resign. Wenjia becomes a mother. Howver, her happiness is short-lived because she is caught in a messy family dispute. Amidst the changes in Shanghai, they grow as individuals and as a family to witness a time of rapid development.
