Synopsis and Plot Summary
A story that follows two people who miss out on each other in their university days and reunite many years later. Given a chance to get to know each other again, they face the challenges at midlife and begin to understand what they truly want.
Jian Hongcheng (Lei Jiayin) is the son of Jian Zhiguo who is the director of Linshui Agricultural Machinery Factory No. 2. Jian Hongcheng fell in love at first sight with the beautiful and gentle Ning You (Yuan Quan) but he was constantly rejected by her when they were still in university. Jian Hongcheng only gave up after You Ning got married.
Because of an injury he sustained in the early years from an altercation with an employee who stabbed him, Jian Zhiguo's health was no longer as it was before. In order to ensure that his son Jian Hongcheng can succeed the factory, Jian Zhiguo forced his daughter Jian Minmin (Luo Haiqiong) to marry his apprentice Zhang Lixin (Liang Guanhua) who was temporarily managing the factory.
Alas, Zhang Lixin seized power and forced Jian Hongcheng to leave town after his father's death. Many years later, Ning You experiences her husband's betrayal and decides to get a divorce. Having succeeded as a self-made man, Jian Hongcheng learns that Zhang Lixin was auctioning off his father's factory in order to pay off his debts. Unwilling to see his father's efforts go to waste, Jian Hongheng returns to his hometown determined to fight to keep the factory. His journey home brings about a reunion with Ning You where he finally learns the real reason she kept rejecting him in the past.
Jian Hongcheng resorts to the letter of the law to resolve the mess left by Zhang Lixin. Meanwhile, Ning You's younger brother Ning Shu (Zhang Yixing) continues to create difficulties. Jian Hongcheng and Ning You work together to stop their unreasonable family on both sides and their relationship grows stronger through time.
