Synopsis and Plot Summary
After her mother's death, Lin Daiyu is sent to live with the Jia family. At this time, Auntie Xue and her family have also arrived at the capital. The story follows Jia Baoyu, Lin Daiyu and Xue Baochai and the young generation as they witness the rise and fall or four great families.
Lin Daiyu (Chen Xiaoxu) is a sickly child whose mother passed away during her early years. Her father Lin Ruhai leaves her in the care of the Jia family where she meets Jia Baoyu (Ouyang Fenqiang), the one man she is destined to love but not marry. The spoiled Baoyu often spends time with his female cousins, among them the courteous and well-loved Xue Baochai (Zhang Li). Baoyu and Daiyu eventually fall for each other. However, Daiyu isn’t liked by the Jia family who favors Baochai instead.
