Synopsis and Plot Summary
A story that follows office worker Xiao Wei who gets lost in the Forbidden City and finds that she has been transported to the Qing Dynasty.
Xiao Wei (Li Landi) is an ordinary girl from the 21st century. After time travelling to the Qing Dynasty, she meets the warm-hearted 13th prince (Wang Anyu), the 14th prince (Xin Yunlai), the 4th prince (Ding Qiao), the stately emperor Kangxi (Liu Jun) and becomes embroiled in the political turmoils within the palace. Which path to choose becomes a difficult choice that she must make over and over again.
Fun Facts
- Filming took place in Hengdian World Studios.
- Although the theme is similar to the 2011 hit drama Scarlet Heart, Meng Hui was written earlier as it is based on a novel that was written by Jin Zi in 2004.
- According to Karen Tsai who produced both Scarlet Heart and Meng Hui, the two may have similar themes but different stories. In Scarlet Heart, Ruoxi is a reactive character. She time travels not by choice and has to follow the course of history. In Meng Hui, the heroine has more choices when it comes to her own fate.
