Synopsis and Plot Summary
A modern day story follows a Philosophy graduate who meets and falls in love with a Beijing woman.
Hailing from Shandong, Shang Jin (Yang Le) decides to stay in Beijing after graduating from college with a degree in philosophy. He is in a relationship with Li Mao (Chuo Ni), a typical Beijing woman who was also his classmate in college. Although Li Mao studied environmental arts, she has been working primarily in interior design. Together with her bestie, they open up a work studio called New Fortress Besieged.
Li Mao keeps putting off introducing her boyfriend to her parents because her family has always wanted her to date a Beijing man. Shang Jin obtains a work license to become an official Beijing'er, but the couple soon realize that things will not be as smooth-sailing as they expect.
