Synopsis and Plot Summary
After parting ways with Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji in The Untamed, Wen Ning and Lan Sizhui who are the last remaining descendants of the Wen Clan set out on a new adventure as they go on night hunts.
Ghost General Wen Ning (Yu Bin) and Lan Sizhui (Zheng Fanxing) of Gusu Lan Sect arrive one after the other at the dilapidated Fu Feng. A long time ago, the place stood prosperous admist glistening city lights. However, it has become cloaked in darkness at present and word has spread about murders that occur whenever a match is lit.
Wen Ning arrives at Fu Feng and discovers its many abnormalities. The town consists only of the old, the weak and the sickly. When night falls, Wen Ning purposely lights a lamp to attract the ghost hiding in the shadows. As he was about to capture his prey, a ray of blue light flashes which allows the shadow the opportunity to escape. Wen Ning looks up to see a familiar face, Lan Sizhui. As the two join hands, the mystery revolving around the Xiao clan begins to unravel.

- Instead of Tencent which airs most of the Mo Dao Zu Shi franchise, the spinoff movie was released exclusively on iQIYI.
