Synopsis and Plot Summary

A story told from the perspective of married couple Fang Yuan and Tong Wenjie that follows the lives of the Fang, Ji and Qiao family whose kids are in their third year of high school.

Buoyed by the belief that getting into the right school dictates one's future, three families gear up for the examinations. Tensions rise between Tong Wenjie (Hai Qing) and her free-spirited son Fang Yifan (Zhou Qi) over his grades with her husband Fang Yuan (Huang Lei) often acting as the referee.

After refusing her ex-husband Qiao Weidong's (Sha Yi) attempts to invade their lives, single mom Song Qian (Tao Hong) becomes overprotective towards her daughter Qiao Yingzi (Li Gengxi). Meanwhile, Ji Yangyang (Guo Zifan) finds it hard to adjust when his father Ji Shengli (Wang Yanhui) and mother Liu Jing (Yong Mei) suddenly want to become involved after leaving him under the care of his uncle Liu Zheng (Ren Zhong). Although father and son are civil, their relationship is not harmonious. It is these trials that allow family members to grow through their love for each other.
