Synopsis and Plot Summary
Less than a year has passed, yet many things have changed. The Emperor's beloved princesses have fallen from grace as the story opens to a shocking event, Xiao Yanzi and Ziwei are about to be executed.
It was not too long ago when everyone lived harmoniously together. Until one day, the Empress Dowager returned to the palace. The Empress Dowager expects a princess to have the temperament of a true lady which is everything that Xiao Yanzi is not. With the Empress and Rong Momo adding fuel to the fire, Xiao Yanxi and Ziwei face many obstacles thrown their way.
Meanwhile, Xiang Fei is presented to the Emperor as a gift. The Emperor has never met a woman as beautiful as Xiang Fei who dared to oppose him, and he becomes increasingly enamored with her. However, her heart is reserved for Meng Dan, her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life. When Xiao Yanzi meets Meng Dan by chance, she decides to help the lovers reunite even at the expense of her life. She also meets a mysterious swordsman named Xiao Jian which further complicates her position in the palace.
