Synopsis and Plot Summary

After Wang Yiming failed to pass the gaokao (national entrance examinations), he unexpectedly qualifies for a singing competition then unexpectedly gets eliminated.

Despite failing the gaokao, Wang Yiming (Wang Youshuo) becomes famous overnight after being selected for a big singing competition on TV. With the support of Yiming's fans, he successfully clears the preliminary eliminations but his girlfriend Liu Xiangyu (Zhao Yuanyuan) cannot be truly happy as she feels that they are growing apart.

In order to secure his spot in the competition, Yiming's coach encourages him to tell his sob story to the public. It backfires when his father suddenly arrives and blows his cover. Yiming is immediately eliminated and forced to go back home. Back in the village, Yiming falls sick with depression yet his family and concerned villagers gather what they can to help him out of a rut.
