Synopsis and Plot Summary

A story that follows an unconventional setup between Li Liang, his father and his stepfather.

University professor Li Liang's (Zhang Yi) long lost father Li Yisheng (Zhang Guoli) suddenly appears at his book signing event, thus disrupting the harmonious family dynamics in Li Liang's life. Li Liang and his younger sister Li Nan (Pan Chen) consider their stepfather Li Dongshan (Li Jianyi) to be their real father and refuse to acknowledge their birth father who has been absent throughout their lives.

Li Yisheng knows that he was lacking as a father but only wishes to be a part of his children's lives. His son and daughter still have to take care of his funeral affairs when he dies. Ever since he was young, Li Yisheng has been quite attractive to the other sex and even Li Dongshan's house nanny has surprisingly fallen for Li Yisheng. At this time, Li Yisheng's other son Li Zhuang (Guo Zhenjia) has been released from prison. Desperate to raise money for his girlfriend's medical bills, Li Zhuang causes even more problems when he approaches Li Liang for money.

Filming took place in Jiangyang.
Filming lasted more than three months beginning on June 4, 2017 and ending on September 7, 2017.
Yan Shi Fan was supposed to air on Jan 30, 2019 on Dragon TV. At the last minute, the premiere was postponed and My Father & Daddy was scheduled to premiere instead.
