Synopsis and Plot Summary

As the country faced a national crisis, people of different origins take up arms to defend their home. A young man overcomes the prejudices against him to serve in the army.

Wu Hai (Yin Xiaotian) is a student at Furen University and a patriot at heart. However, his intentions are ridiculed because of his playboy personality and he is rejected by the anti-Japanese occupation youth group. Left with no choice, he returns to his hometown.

By chance, he rescues childhood friend Li Caoer (Bian Xiaoxiao) which gains him entry to join Li Tiehan's (Du Gonghai) guerrilla army. Nevertheless, bad blood between Li Tiehan and his own father result in him being chased out of the army. At the same time, his older sister Wu Mei (Yang Tongshu), not only believes in Wong Jingwei's puppet government but also blames the New Fourth Army for their father's death. Devastated by his sister's actions, Wu Hai steps into the forefront of the war and joins the New Fourth Army.
