Synopsis and Plot Summary

A member of the embroidered uniform guard defies the confines of time and space to wake up from his frozen state four hundred years into the future. He encounters a hidden enemy and falls in love with a woman from the present.

During the reign of Jiajing Emperor, four men were hailed as heroes of the Ming Dynasty. Amongst them, He Ying (Donnie Yen) and Sa Ao (Wang Baoqiang) were once orphans who were taken in by villagers. The two joined the embroidered uniform guards at a young age where they met Dragon (Simon Yam) and Tiger (Yu Kang). The four form a tight bond and become sworn brothers.

One day, He Ying receives orders from the Emperor to deliver a national treasure from Tianzhu, but he is attacked on the way back by his three brothers. Official Du's entire household have been massacred overnight and all evidence point to He Ying as the culprit. During the fight, the earth shakes and an avalanche buries the four warriors. Four hundred years later, He Ying escapes from his frozen state and walks into the life of Xiaomei (Eva Huang), a young woman that he meets at a party on Christmas Eve, but his past and the dangers that it brings are quickly catching up to him.
