Synopsis and Plot Summary
It tells the story of four characters from a small city in the Northeast and their struggles in daily life.
It all starts during one gloomy morning. High school student Wei Bu is being scolded by his family. Grandpa is forced by his own sons and daughters to go to a retirement home. Yu Cheng is a delinquent who sleeps with his good friend's woman. At home, Huang Ling fights with her mother over the cleanliness of the bathroom. Each person has a special place that they would like to escape to. In Manzhouli, there is an elephant sitting still.
Fun Facts
- It is Director Hu Bo's posthumous film who committed suicide in October 2017.
- The movie won Best Feature Film, Best Adapted Screenplay and Viewer's Choice Award at the 55th Golden Horse Awards. Director Hu's mother accepted the award along with Best Adapted Screenplay on his behalf.
- Peng Yuchang who was nominated for Best Actor at the Golden Horse Awards was the youngest nominee.
