Synopsis and Plot Summary
A film that follows the sentiments of a rebellious young man and its reflection of the ordinary man's journey in 1960's Hong Kong.
Yuddy (Leslie Cheung) is a handsome young man who immigrated from Shanghai. He has never met his birth mother and was raised by his adoptive mother (Rebecca Pan). Because of his personal experience, he has become cold and heartless towards the women in his life. He meets a saleslady named Su Lizhen (Maggie Cheung) and a dancer named Mi Mi (Carina Lau). He cohabits with them one after the other only to abandon them both. Yuddy finds out that he is the illegitimate son of a woman of noble birth who is of Spanish and Filipino descent. He travels all the way to the Philippines to meet her but was turned away.
Before leaving Hong Kong, Yuddy gives his car to his childhood friend Zeb (Jackie Cheung). When Mi Mi learns that Yuddy went to the Philippines, Zeb sells the car to give her money to go after him. Tide (Andy Lau) is a cop with a crush on Su Lizhen. After his mother dies, he changes his profession to work in shipping. He runs into Yuddy in Chinatown and pretends that he doesn't know him. Not long after, Yuddy who is in the business of selling fake passports gets injured during a fight. Tide asks Yuddy if he remembers what he was doing one afternoon on April 16. Yuddy says that he'll always remember what he wants to remember.
