Synopsis and Plot Summary
A story revolving around two prominent clans in the North and South. The Su Family hopes to control the Shi Family through a union, but the chosen bride runs away. Her replacement becomes embroiled in complicated relationships and a family vengeance.
During the Northern Song Dynasty, Su Guangping (Li Jianyi) is an unscrupulous merchant who plots a scheme to covet Shi Wuji's properties (Qi Ji). He proposes a marriage between their families. Shi Wuji has always suspected that Su Guangping had a hand in the massacre that occurred 20 years ago which makes him wary of his enemy. Shi Wuji chooses the Su Family's illegitimate daughter Su Huan'er (Zhao Liying) as his bride. Su Huan'er falls off a cliff while trying to escape her own wedding.
To ensure that the plan will go on without a hitch, Su Guangping arranges for Yang Yi (Zhao Liying), a daughter he had out of wedlock, to be Su Huan'er's replacement. Genuine and astute, Yang Yi stands up for herself despite being spurned after marrying into the Shi Family. One day, she saves Shi Wuxia (Zheng Qian) and starts to convert people to her side. Slowly and unexpectedly, she becomes a ray of light to the new family and eases the misunderstandings between the two brother Shi Wuji and Shi Wujie (Guo Dongdong).
