The Rhapsody of A Summer Dream

The story of a girl's musical journey as she loses her passion for music due to a betrayal and finds her way back through the support of a new love.

When their father died five years ago, Pei Shi (Go Joon-hee) and her brother Pei Qu (Wang Si Yao) were adopted by Yan ShengJiao. Pei Shi slowly became close with Yan ShengJiao's son, Ke Ze (Zhu Yi Long). Along with this, she also became a competitor of Xia Na (Song Yi), Ke Ze's admirer. Due to Pei Shi's talent and skills in playing the violin, those who envied her broke her left hand, thus destroying her musical journey. With no one left to go to, Pei Shi finds Ke Ze, but instead, she sees how he has betrayed her.

Five years later, Pei Shi adopts a new identity and becomes the secretary of Xia Na's brother, Xia ChengSi (Zhang Han). Pei Shi helps an amateur, Han YueYue (Guo Zi Qian), get into the musical industry. As Ke Ze once again sees Pei Shi, his feelings for her return. Miraculously, Pei Shi's left hand heals and she can now play the violin like before, however, she has lost the true meaning of music and has her heart set on defeating Xia Na. Xia ChengSi's unconditional support and guidance along Pei Shi's side melts her cold heart, allowing her to grasp the true meaning of music, just as how she did before.

• It is a collaboration between a number of production companies, Mango TV and Zhang Han Studio.
• It is the first time for Zhang Han to act as producer.
• Filming took place in Shanghai and Prague.
• It is part of the dramas that were affected by the Hallyu Ban, an unofficial ban that was in effect in China to restrict all forms of Hallyu aka Korean Wave due to the political disagreement between China and Korea over THAAD. • It is one of four dramas starring Zhang Han that were affected by the Hallyu Ban as it featured Korean actress Go Jun Hee as the leading lady. There was a running joke that Zhang Han had it worst as all of his dramas couldn't air. There was Braveness of the Ming with Park Min Young, Gorgeous Workers with Choo Ja Hyun and The Legendary Tycoon with Gu Hye Sun.
• The main character and her brother are named Pei Shi and Pei Qu. Shi and Qu translate to lyrics and music which is in keeping with the musical theme of the drama.
