Synopsis and Plot Summary
A story about the complicated emotional entanglements between one man and four women.
Zhou Yulou (Joo Jin Mo) is a reputable doctor with a bright career, a beautiful fiancee and the enviable lifestyle that many aspire to have. However, he has trouble saying no to people. In the field of psychology, it is is known as the disease to please. His fiancee Jiang Dan (Zhang Li) is rattled when Xia Churong (Lee Yu-ri) confesses her feelings for Zhou Yulou. Xia Churong is an idealistic woman who longs for a romantic relationship, but she is stuck in an unhappy marriage with her husband Tang Kai. After finding out about Zhou Yulou, Tang Kai makes a scene at Zhou Yulou and Jiang Dan's wedding and dies from a heart attack during the confrontation.
Shaken by her husband's passing, Xia Churong views Zhou Yulou as the last piece of driftwood to keep her sanity. Zhou Yulou is racked with guilt over Tang Kai's death and also pities the widowed Chu Xiaorong, yet the last thing he wants is to hurt Jiang Dan. Xia Churong is pushed to the edge after realizing that she can never have Zhou Yulou. The turn of events become too much for Jiang Dan who decides to separate from Zhou Yulou to sort out her feelings. During the break, Zhou Yulou is challenge by his rival Feng Tai (Gao Zifeng) at every turn.
Bai Xiaoxi (Bai Huizi) is Jiang Dan's student and her mother is Zhou Yulou's patient. While Zhou Yulou believes that he is merely fulfilling his duties as a doctor in helping Bai Xiaoxi's mother, his kindness is misinterpreted as something more. Bai Xiaoxi falls for him and her confession leaves him in a stupor.
Qin Fang is a woman who has invested heavily in the field of medicine. She has been staying in the sidelines and biding her time with only one goal in mind. Qin Fang has been secretly in love with Zhou Yulou for many years and her obsession has grown into a need to control him by turning everyone he loves against him so that she can come into his life as his savior.

- Filming took place in Beijing, China.
- Filming lasted around two months beginning November 10 2015 and ending February 1, 2016.
- It is Korean actor Joo Jin Mo's second Chinese drama.
- Joo Jin Mo and Zhang Li became a reel-to-real couple because of the drama. They were riddled with dating rumors since 2016 but Joo Jin Mo who has never publicly admitted to any relationship insisted that they were just friends. One year later, they were caught vacationing together in Japan by China's number one paparazzo Zhuo Wei and finally revealed that they were dating on February 15, 2017 via weibo. The couple broke up in March 2018.
- Joo Jin Mo and Lee Yoo-ri have never worked together before though Lee Yoo-ri says that she considers Joo Jin Mo to be a role model. The two of them would speak their lines in Korean.
- It is part of the dramas that were affected by the Hallyu Ban, an unofficial ban that was in effect in China to restrict all forms of Hallyu aka Korean Wave due to the political disagreement between China and Korea over THAAD.
