Synopsis and Plot Summary
A story of many lifetimes of romance between the flower deity and the fire deity.
Four thousand years ago when Jin Mi (Yang Zi) was born into the world, her fate to be imprisoned within Shui Jing was already sealed. Her birth mother Zi Fen, the flower deity, abandons her for the afterlife and before her death, she feeds the unfeeling pill to her infant daughter and orders her subordinates never to reveal her identity to Jin Mi.
Four thousand years later, the fire deity (Deng Lun) who is also the second son of the Heavenly King stumbles into Shui Jing because of a trap laid out by his enemies. He is saved by Jin Mi and slowly, the two fated souls find comfort in each other after having spent a hundred years together.
Meanwhile, the fire deity and the night deity (Luo Yun Xi) have always been at odds. When the night deity learns of the fire deity's intentions, he devises a plan to get to Jin Mi in order to use her against fire, yet he ends up falling for her as well.

- Yang Zi got her weight down to 90 jin specifically for the role.

- Yang Zi jokes that she find it a little weird to play a couple with Deng Lun. In Ode to Joy, he was paired with Qiao Xin who played Guan Guan, a girl that's good friends with Yang Zi's character. She can't help but feel like she stole Guan Guan's boyfriend.
- The drama was praised and got high ratings in the beginning. Moreover, book fans found that the drama stayed faithful to the book.
- As the story progressed, dispute over screentime escalated. Viewers especially book fans became frustrated with how the drama started deviating from the story. More focus was given to the second lead and other supporting characters instead of the two main leads.
- Douban ratings went from a high of 7.6 to 7.3.
- It is Zou Tingwei's first time doing wirework and having major action scenes in a drama.
- It is Deng Lun's first time filming a fantasy genre that uses a lot of CGI. It took some getting used to as he had to act with things that weren't there.
- During an emotional scene with Luo Yunxi, Yang Zi said that because shooting was continuous and couldn't be stopped, they were showering in sweat. Her lashes fell of, her makeup messy that it was hard to look at in post. It was the scene when Jin Mi overhears Run Yu's conversation with Sui He.
- It is Luo Yunxi's first time playing a villain.
- It is the first part of the Honey Trilogy that was succeeded by Skate into Love.
