Synopsis and Plot Summary
A story about love that follows a modern day woman who discovers an old diary and turns the pages to read about a moving romance in the life of Tian Ying.
Lin Jingyun (An Yuexi) is a Chinese-American food critic and senior editor for a food magazine. She grew up in France but comes to Shanghai to taste the local cuisines and rediscover her heritage. She finds an old diary owned by Duan Tian Ying (An Yuexi) and reads about her life in Shanghai in the 1920s.
In the diary, Tian Ying is torn with her feelings for two friends, Luo Fusheng (Zhu Yilong) and Xu Xingcheng (Kevin Kam). She is beginning to fall for the gentle and sweet Xu Xingcheng but she's intrigued by the arrogance displayed by Luo Fusheng. However, Hong Lan (Eva Cheng) is secretly in love with Luo Fusheng. Meanwhile, Duan Tianci (Alen Fang Yilun) imagines himself engaged to Tian Ying and kidnaps her so he can protect her. (Source: DramaPanda)
Fun Facts
- Filming lasted three months beginning in July 2017 and ending in October 2017.
- Filming took place in Huzhou and Changzhou.
- It is An Yuexi's first time trying out Beijing opera attire.
- Even though Zhu Yilong is quite reserved, whenever filming starts, he immediately gets into his thuggish character.
- An Yuexi had a lot of dancing scenes so before each scene, she would learn the dance steps a week earlier and master it in a day.
