Synopsis and Plot Summary
The narrative revolves around the anti-corruption investigations by Hou Liangping and follows contemporary prosecutors who maintain fairness and justice through the Chinese legal system.
A director from the national ministry has been reported to authorities for accepting bribes amounting to millions. When Hou Liangping of the Anti-Corruption Division of the People's Procuratorate launches his investigation, he enounters a simple, plainly-clothed "old farmer" eating fried noodles in a shabby house.
As the face of corruption is unmasked, Ding Yizhen, deputy mayor of Jingzhou city (a fictional place), who is also implicated receives the help of a mysterious figure and manages to escape overseas. The clues lead to a fight for equity in the state-owned Dafeng Garment Factory in Handong province.
When Chen Hai (Huang Junpeng) of the Anti-Corruption Division suddenly encounters a car accident, Hou Hongliang is called in to continue the unfinished investigation. In this new political arena in Handong, Gao Yuliang (Zhang Zhijian) and Li Dakang (Wu Gang) represent two opposing factions. The arrival of Sha Ruijin (Zhang Fengyi), the new Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, breaks the political balance to bring forth a state of reform.
