Synopsis and Plot Summary
A delivery girl who grew up in a wonton shop has a talent for embroidery. This is a story about how she discovers her identity and forays into the world of fashion.
Zhang Guoguo (Sun Yi) may not have a good education nor the proper family background, but she is a young woman with a lot of enthusiasm. Her bubbly and honest personality has won the love and adoration of their neighbors. What most do not know is that Guoguo is the long lost granddaughter of the owner of a famous embroidery house. Her birth mother is the second daughter-in-law of the household. Guoguo lost contact with her real family due to an accident as a child and she was found in a rural area in China where she was raised in a poor family.
Guoguo grew up possessing an exceptional gift for embroidery. Although her adoptive mother Wang Aiyu (Guo Hong) is against her wishes to pursue the craft, Guoguo eventually gains her acknowledgement and also earns a spot to further her studies. Thankful to Aiyu, Guoguo loves her adoptive family with all her heart and considers Aiyu's daughter Zhang Yuxin (Wu You) to be like a sister. Yuxin gets a chance to train as an apprentice under Xu Huijie (Joy Pan), Guoguo's birth mother. Yuxin infuses what she learned abroad into her own designs and becomes a fierce rival for Guoguo. As the two work hard to fulfill the same dream, Guoguo gets caught in the lies and deceit spun by the people around her. The two also meet a pair of brothers, Li Yunkai (Deng Lun) and Li Yunzhe (Dai Chao).
Fun Facts
- Filming took place in Shanghai, China.
- Filming lasted more than three months beginning on May 27, 2016 and ending on September 4, 2016.
- As the drama was filmed in the summer, Sun Yi was often drenched in sweat and had to do multiple touch ups for her makeup.
- Although it was not explicitly advertised, the story is the same as the 2014 Korean drama Jang Bori Is Here starring Oh Yeon Seo and Kim Ji Hoon.
- The show became a hit and broke CSM52 ratings of 3%. It reached online views of 7 billion.
- It is Deng Lun and Sun Yi's third drama together after Love and Fifteen Years to Fight for Migratory Birds.
- The cast and crew spent 3 nights filming the 3-minute car accident scene in the rain. Liu Mintao felt bad for the crew, so she held an umbrella for them.
- During a scene where Wu You slaps Sun Yi, Wu You practiced hitting air several times. When it comes to the actual take, she was still too careful so Sun Yi told her that she should do it for real and not think too much.
- Dai Chao revealed that the wedding scene with Wu You his first scene. He was extremely nervous and he treated it like his own wedding including the kiss.
