Synopsis and Plot Summary
Within the capital of the Tang Dynasty is an investigative team with an unconventional skillset that specializes in strange cases.
In A.D. 626, mysterious occurrences take place in the city of Chang An. The Court of Judicial Review puts together a team made up of Samo Duoluo (Joe Xu), a man who is well-versed in the use of jialuo, Shangguan ZiSu (Ju JingYi), a walking dictionary, Li Zhi (Li He), a superhuman analyzer, Huang San Pao (Liu GuanLin), an explosives expert, Sun Si Niang (Zhang XinYuan), a weapons expert and Tan ShuangYe (Cheng XiaoMeng), a skilled medic. Through a series of cases, they continuously dispel superstitions to reveal the truth, but their investigation leads them to a conspiracy that could destroy the peace in the nation.

- It hit 100 million views online within 10 hours of its release.
- Filming took place in Beijing, China.
- Filming lasted around four months beginning on June 15, 2016 and ending on October 4, 2016.
- Season 1 aired on February 15, 2017 and ended on March 21, 2017. Season 2 aired on May 10, 2017 and ended on June 22, 2017.
- The drama had very long dialogues. There was a scene where four pages of script were allotted for Joe Xu to deliver by himself.
- To help Ju JingYi memorize her lines, Ju Jingyi's mom would send walnuts as a brain supplement.
- It is Liu GuanLin's second time working with Director Wang JunYe, and he took part in developing his character Huang San Pao.
- Joe Xu sang the ending theme song Chang An Zui. It is his first time singing a theme song for his drama.
