Synopsis and Plot Summary

A story that revolves around a young man who loses his powers after finding a ring. He recovers under the care of Old Man Yao Chen and joins hands with Xiao Xun Er to fight a greater enemy.

Xiao Yan (Wu Lei) is known for being a gifted genius in the field of martial arts. When he was nine years old, his mother Gu Wen Xin (Carman Lee) was forcibly taken by the tribespeople to be imprisoned. His father Xiao Zhan (Yu Rongguang) kept it as a closely guarded secret. One day, Xiao Yan chances upon a ring while he was practicing martial arts, but it weakens him and renders him unable to cultivate. His marriage to his fiancee also falls through when their side reneges on the agreement.

Xiao Yan accidentally wakes Old Man Yao Chen (Baron Chen) who is the owner of the ring. Under Yao Chen's guidance, Xiao Yan improves at an incredible pace and learns the whereabouts of his mother. Xiao Yan also enters the Jianan School where he comes under the tutelage of respected teachers and meets new friends. However, his actions do not go unnoticed by the enemy. During a special exercise, Xiao Yan is almost killed and finds out that his tribe has been massacred. Together with Xiao Xun Er (Lin Yun), he draws his sword on a road to vengeance.

• Wu Lei said that he gained muscle while filming because not only were the props heavy, he also had many action scenes.
• Director Yu Rongguang is a veteran actor who has appeared in many action movies. He also appears in the drama as the main character's father.

• On September 28, 2018, All Out Of Love was bumped from primetime to share the 10pm time slot with Battle Through The Heavens. This was done to make way for The Years You Were Late. The reason is said to be due to a push for dramas that touch upon the economic reforms in China.
• Beginning October 1st, Battle Through The Heavens weekly airing was reduced to two episodes every Wednesday and Thursday at 10pm.
• The novels that Battle Through the Heavens, Martial Universe and The Great Lord are based on share the same universe.
