Synopsis and Plot Summary
An experienced detective takes a timid recruit under his wing. Seemingly opposites, they overcome many situations through their seamless partnership.
Li Bai (Wang Kai) is a brilliant detective while Xu Xu (Olivia Wang) is a newcomer with an uncanny talent for criminal psychology. After collaborating on a high profile case, Li Bai falls for Xu Xu but she seems to have the intuitiveness of a snail when it comes to love.
Fun Facts
- Filming took place in Kunming, Xishuangbanna, Dehong, Honghe and Myanmar.
- Filming in China lasted two months beginning on April 15, 2016 and ending on June 20, 2016.
- After more than a month break, the cast and crew continued filming in Myanmar. They filmed the final scene on September 7, 2016 at a train station.
- Wang Kai and Olivia Wang work together for the third time, continuing their chemistry as onscreen partners in Ode to Joy.
- Having worked together before, Wang Kai and Olivia Wang had great chemistry but because they knew each other too well, they would end up laughing on set resulting in bloopers. Before filming, Wang Kai joked that he and Olivia Wang should make a deal that whoever laughs first will get a punishment.
- Because of the her character's timid personality, Olivia Wang dialled down her liveliness on set and hardly talked.
- Author Ding Mo has three books in the crime suspense genre, which also include Love Me If You Dare and Memory Lost all of which have been adapted into a TV series.
- It hit 100 million views 14 hours after premiere and 200 million views 40 hours after premiere.
- It hit 1 billion views on its 3rd week of airing.
