Synopsis and Plot Summary
It follows the story between the King of Han and Wei Zi Fu who rises from a woman of low birth to become the most regal queen. As this is a historical drama, it will also tackle the political plays in the Han Dynasty and how the Emperor uses his power to fight against the Xiong Nu.
Wei Zi Fu (Wang Luo Dan) was a mere songstress with neither extraordinary beauty nor a reputable background but her unrivalled intelligence, courage and virtue enabled her to live a colorful and noteworthy life as the second longest reigning queen in Chinese history. She and the King (Raymond Lam) were together for 38 years. She is the first queen in Chinese history to be given a posthumous title.

- It ranked in first against other shows on the same timeslot and gained praise for promoting Chinese history.
- It is produced by husband and wife Mui Siu-ching and Lau Ka-ho who are highly-regarded for spouting countless hits while they were working for TVB. The couple left the company for Now TV which produced The Virtuous Queen of Han in collaboration with Mainland China's Huace Film & TV.
- It is Huace Film & TV's first production in their Chinese empress series.
