Synopsis and Plot Summary
Chen Shen leads a double life as he works under his friend and comrade Bi Zhong Liang as part of a specialized task force that captures anti-Japanese revolutionaries.
In March of 1940, the puppet government is established. Chen Shen (Li Yifeng) works as a spy alongside his enemy Bi ZhongLiang (Zhang Luyi) and loses contact with his colleagues. Chen Shen's morals and beliefs don't waver even with his current work; he saves the "prime minister" and anti-Japanese soldiers. Even though Chen Shen saved Bi ZhongLiang's life before and Bi Zhong Liang regards Chen Shen as a brother, he starts to suspect Chen Shen and sets multiple traps for him. Chen Shen's old lover (Zhou Dongyu) arrives undercover with a fake husband (Zhang Ruoyun) and brings trouble to Chen Shen. Surrounded by people he cannot trust, Chen Shen relies on his wit and intelligence as he works to bring down the Japanese from the inside.

Fun Facts
- It is produced by Mahayana Media, H&R Century Pictures and Domys Entertainment.
- Hai Fei who wrote the source novel also writes the screenplay.
- On the first day that Li Yifeng and Zhang Luyi had scenes together, Zhang Luyi improvised his lines which Li Yifeng was able to easily adapt to.
- Zhang Luyi purposely gained around 40 pounds for the role to make himself appear more mature.
- Li Xiaoran's most difficult scene to film was when she was being tortured. In order to show the character's fighting spirit despite being beaten over and over again, the Director decided to throw ice cubes at Li Xiaoran.
