Ip Man 3

The story follows Ip Man as he encounters various difficulties in the journey to becoming a martial arts master.

In the year 1959, Ip Man (Donnie Yen) and Zhang Yongcheng (Linda Hung) send their elder son Ye Zhun to Guangdong while their younger son Ye Zheng remains in Hong Kong to study. In the course of taking a stand against the gang led by Ma Jingsheng (Patrick Tam) and his boss (Mike Tyson), Ip Man rallies his disciples to protect his son's elementary school.

Ip Man meets Zhang Tianzhi (Max Zhang), a man who depends on underground fights and pushing carts to make a living. Both dedicated to their craft, they develop a level of respect and appreciation for each other. Zhang Tianzhi challenges Ip Man to a duel as the rightful representative of Wing Chun. At this time, Ip Man's wife suddenly falls ill. Despite the problems that he faces, Ip Man chooses to fight to win back the title as a Wing Chun master.

• Filming took place in Guangdong Province.
• During a scene where Donnie Yen accepts a challenge to duel from Max Zhang, the two actors fought using Wing Chun. Max Zhang accidentally hit Donnie Yen in the face. The crew anxiously watched in the sidelines as his nose became bruise and bloodied.
• The production team had created a CGI version of Bruce Lee. However, Linda Lee Cadwell was against the idea so it was abandoned. Instead, they found Danny Chan Kwok-kwan to play Bruce Lee as he had played the late actor several times before.
