Synopsis and Plot Summary

A young Bao Zheng with a strong sense of conviction takes his fight against corruption against those in power.

During the Northern Song Dynasty, Bao Zheng (Victor Huang) arrives at the capital to take the national exams. He accidentally gets pulled into a conspiracy and learns of the 8th Prince's plans to commit treason. Relying on his intelligence, he saves the crown from harm and gets appointed to a government post. He is assigned to investigate the murders of members of the imperial family which brings him head to head with Empress Liu E (Gan Tingting).

Fun Facts

It first premiered in July 2017 on Shandong Qilu TV Station.
It replaced Peace in Palace, Peace in Chang An to air on CCTV8 last minute after Peace in Palace was suddenly postponed.
Filming took place in Hengdian World Studios.
Gan Tingting plays Empress Liu E who is a real historical figure. She took the time to learn the history behind her character.
Cao Xinyue gained 10 jin for the role.
As Zheng Siren is the type to easily gain weight, he stopped eating for a week before filming started. As the scenes later on were very strenuous, he had to eat more to get more nutrients. It explains why his appearance was fat and thin at different times.
