Fun Facts
- Filming took place in Hengdian World Studios and Xiandu.
- Filming lasted around four months from August 26, 2016 to December 10, 2016.
- Ady An turned down a leading role for another project because she likes that Dugu Banruo is cold and cunning and will do everything for her family. At the same time, she relishes the chance to play a role where she can bully others since she often plays roles where she is being bullied.
- It is Li Yi Xiao's first time playing a villain. Zhang Dan Feng thought that she was so good at it that he always felt she was a villain whenever he saw her.
- Hu Bing Qing had to play the character Jialuo from the time when she was 15 to the time when she was 40 which was a big challenge for her. Jialuo also had many children which was awkward for Hu Bing Qing as some of the actors playing her children were close to her in age.
- Zhang Dan Feng shared that his wife Hong Xin would often bring the kids to visit the set. Even when his son was already in school, he would video chat with his son.
- When Zhang Dan Feng first met Hu Bing Qing, he thought that she was quite timid. In order to film better, he often talked to her so that they would become comfortable with each other.
- Ady An said that Jeremy Tsui was a very serious actor. He was so into his character when filming intense scenes that he accidentally left bruises on Ady An which he felt very sorry for afterwards.
- A few months after the drama completed filming, Queen Dugu which is another drama about the story of Dugu Jialuo and Yang Jian also started filming.
