Synopsis and Plot Summary

A romance between a girl mistaken for a boy and her boss who runs the coffee shop that she works at.

Gao Xing (Xu Lu) whose names translates to Happy is a young woman often mistaken for a boy due to her looks. Ever since the death of her father ten years ago, she has been the breadwinner of the family working multiple jobs to survive. Her father left her a diary detailing his experiences as a barista which encourages her on the same path. Desperate for a job, she pretends to be a boy to earn a spot working at a newly-opened coffee shop where she often runs into a number of hilarious hijinks with the owner Jiang Shang Wu (Yang Le). The two go from clashing with each other to becoming fast friends. At the same time, she meets Jiang Shang Wu's cousin Qin Zhe Mo (Wang Yang). He is a warm and gentle guy who's dealing with a painful breakup with his ex-girlfriend Han Xiao (Shi Yu Fei).

Fun Facts

Filming took place in Beijing and Hainan, China.
Leading lady Xu Lu had to chop off her long locks for the role, and it is her first time appearing in a drama with short hair.
The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince starring Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun Hye was a huge commercial success back in the day. Korean actress Yoon Eun Hye cameos in the Chinese remake as well.
The story is originally based on a novel of the same name by Lee Sun-mi.
