Synopsis and Plot Summary
Jiang Yu is caught in a love-hate relationship with Wu Cai Hong who is the daughter of his most hateful enemy.
Jiang Yu (Hawick Lau) falls for Wu Cai Hong (Zheng Shuang) but finds out that she is the daughter of Wu Hong Da, the man who falsely accused his father, inadvertently causing his death and his mother's mental illness. Ten years later, Wu Hong Da has died and his company is on the verge of bankruptcy. Jiang Yu sees it as an opportunity to reclaim what was his though his actions raise the suspicion of Cai Hong. Unable to admit his feelings for Cai Hong, Jiang Yu takes her in as a nanny, further igniting a romance that is filled with heartache.

- The Cage of Love is the second collaboration between Hong Kong Director Ng Gam-Yuen and writer Tong Hua after Scarlet Heart.
- The Cage of Love premiered to such a well reception that onscreen couple Hawick Lau and Zheng Shuang signed on for a second collaboration for another large IP production called Chronicle of Life. *IP stands for intellectual property and it is a term used in China to refer to adaptations based on copyrighted material.
- It was shot in Wuzhen and Hengdian in 2014.
- The Chinese title translates to, "The Man Who Caught Cai Hong." Cai Hong which translates to Rainbow is the name of the female lead.
- Zheng Shuang's father Zheng Chenghua makes a cameo as an extra when he visited his daughter on set.
- Hawick Lau's wife Yang Mi was pregnant with their daughter Noemie when Hawick was filming the drama.
- It is Liu Yuxin's first time playing a villain.
