Synopsis and Plot Summary
During the Ming Dynasty, the eunuchs have risen to power. A gallant hero who is on the run from his pursuers escapes to the Dragon Gate Inn.
Zhao Huaian (Nie Yuan) used to serve the imperial family as a court official. However, he is being hunted down by Wan Yulou (Chen Long) of Dongchang and Yu Huatian (Mao Junjie) of Xichang as he has gone against their organization to save innocent men. After many years, Zhao Huaian sets foot at the Dragon Gate Inn in the middle of the desert. He recognizes the new owner Hu Zhongyu (Zhang Junning) and is saved by the former innkeeper Jin Xiangyu (Michelle Ye).

Fun Facts
- Filming took place in Yinchuan and Hengdian World Studios.
- It first premiered in 2015 on Chunghwa TV and was picked up to air on CCTV in 2018.
- Gao Hu who was initially playing the role of Wan Yu Lou had to be replaced in post after he was detained by police for drug use. Chen Long who worked with Gao Hu in Water Margin stepped in as replacement as he had the time after filming Nirvana in Fire.
- The drama does not follow the same plot as the movie.
